Château Marquis de Terme

Château Marquis de Terme (4. Cru) ligger i Margaux, Bordeaux. Et château med en lang historie, der går helt tilbage til midten af det 15. århundrede. Dengang var ejendommen en af de største i Margaux, men den blev siden splittet op i hele fire châteauer, deriblandt Château Marquis de Terme.

Slottet fremstiller ca. 150.000 flasker om året af 1. vinen Château Marquis de Terme 4. Cru og 2. vinen La Couronne de Marquis de Terme. Slottet fremstiller også vinene M de Marquis de Terme9 de Marquis de Terme og Fleur de Marquis de Terme.

Slottets 35-40 ha vinmarker er beplantet med 55 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 35 % Merlot, 3 % Cabernet Franc og 7 % Petit Verdot. Vinstokkenes gennemsnitsalder er 35 år.

Located in the heart of Margaux appellation, the ancient origins of the estate back in the XVth century. The name of the chateau was given by François de Péguilhan, Marquis de Terme, in 1762. Thanks to his wedding with Mlle Ledoulx d’Emplet in 1762, The Marquis de Terme named François de Péguilhan became the owner of the winery that will later bear his name. In 1935, Pierre Sénéclauze took over the Château Marquis de Terme. From 1954, his three sons took part in the management of the property. After the passing of Pierre, the sons started an important investment program from 1978 forward, in order to modernize the property. Another wave of investments started in 2009 with the arrival of Ludovic David as General Manager and Winemaker. These new investments are giving new vitality to this Fourth Classified Growth in 1855.

Gravel typical of Margaux, made of quartz and quartzite, at least 4 metres thick, where the Cabernet Sauvignon realizes its best potential. Locally he deep gravel is more clayish, which is better suited to Merlot
