Château Soutard

Château Soutard (Grand Cru) ligger i Saint Émilion.

1. vinen hedder Château Soutard Grand Cru og 2. vinen Petit Soutard (første årgang blev produceret i 2011).

Situated on the prestigious plateau of Saint Émilion, Château Soutard was built between 1741 and 1762. Located in the centre of the vineyards, it represents the true heart of the estate which overlooks the nearby valley. We can find the earliest traces of the estate dating from the 16th century (1513). However the story of Soutard really began with Jean Coutures who bought the property in 1699. His daughter Marie and his grandson, Jean Cambret de Faurie, never stopped building the reputation of the estate. In the 19th century, Jean Laveau, one of the most famous wine-growers in SaintÉmilion, acquired the property, which throve in his expert hands for over a quarter of the century. When he died, the land was inherited by Jeanne du Foussat de Bogeron and her husband, the agriculturalist Michel des Ligneris, in 1919. Their descendents were to manage the estate from then and until 2006, when AG2R La Mondiale, already owner of Château Larmande (Grand Cru Classé) and Château Grand Faurie La Rose (Grand Cru). Château Soutard then started an impressive renovation programme, giving to it a new impetus. The insurance company bought Château Cadet Piola in 2009, which merged with Soutard for the last classement of Saint Émilion wines in 2012. The ambition is crystal clear: making Château Soutard a Premier Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion. Petit Soutard is the second wine of Château Soutard, which was born in 2011.
